Yesterday at Pune Airport, an Air India flight headed for Delhi collided with a tug truck as it was taxiing toward the runway. There were about 180 passengers on board when the incident happened.
“The nose of the aircraft, which was carrying about 180 passengers, and a tire close to the landing gear sustained damage. All of the crew and passengers on board are said to be safe despite the collision, an airport official told ANI.

Emergency procedures were implemented quickly, guaranteeing everyone’s safety.

Airport officials have confirmed the incident and stated that “the passengers were immediately deplaned and arrangements were made for an alternative flight to Delhi.”

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the collision. Preliminary reports suggest that the tug truck, used for manoeuvring the aircraft on the ground, struck the plane during the taxiing process. The DGCA’s investigation will focus on operational protocols and possible lapses that led to the incident.

Although the impacted aircraft was temporarily taken out of service for a thorough inspection and repairs and is now back in service, airport operations continued without any major disruption.

We anticipate more updates as the investigation develops.
