The 37th Death Anniversary was commemorated by the Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation (BJRNF) on behalf of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India at the Samata Sthal, on July 05, 2023, near Rajghat. This solemn event serves as a reminder of his indelible contributions to the nation and his unwavering commitment to the principles of social justice and empowerment.

The commemorative event began with a floral tribute from the Secretary, D/o SJ&E, Shri Saurabh Garg and other dignitaries. This august event was also attended by Shri Surendra Singh, Additional Secretary, D/o SJ&E; Shri Vikas Trivedi, Director, BJRNF; Shri A.K. Raina, Financial Advisor, DAF/DAIC; Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, DAIC; Dr. Shiv Poojan Pathak, DAIC; Ms. Prachi Deshpande, LDO, DAIC; Shri Sudhir Hilsayan, Editor, DAF; Shri R. K. Tripathy, PA, DAF; Shri. Prashanth Poddar, Assistant, DAF Shri Satyaprakash, Assistant BJRNF; Shri Ramji Chaurasia, Assistant, BJRNF; along with other officials of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, BJRNF, DAF, and DAIC. After the floral tribute ceremony, sixteen talented artists from the Song & Drama Division graced the occasion by performing soulful songs dedicated to the life and legacy of Babu Jagjivan Ram.

Moreover, the event witnessed the esteemed presence of notable dignitaries, including former Lok Sabha Speaker, Smt. Meira Kumar, former Vice President of Babu Jagjivan Ram National Foundation (BJRNF), Ms. Swati Kumar, Ms. Devangana Kumar; Shri Manjul Kumar, and Mr. Anshul Abhijeet. Their partaking at the august event added further significance to the occasion and underscored the collective commitment to honouring the legacy of Babu Jagjivan Ram. He is popularly known as the “Babuji” of Indian politics, was a towering figure who dedicated his life to the service of the nation and the upliftment of the marginalised in his long five-decade career. His remarkable journey, from being a freedom fighter to becoming one of the most influential leaders in independent India as the Deputy Prime Minister, continues to inspire generations even in contemporary times.

The foundation recognizes the profound impact that Babu Jagjivan Ram had on shaping the social and political fabric of our country. As a visionary leader and a strong advocate for the marginalized, he worked tirelessly to eradicate social inequities and fought for the rights and dignity of every individual.

This year’s programme was organised under the able guidance and leadership of Shri Vikas Trivedi, Director, BJRNF which was duly implemented by the BJRNF team. Nevertheless, the garland laying ceremony at Samta Sthal, Rajghat, serves as a symbolic gesture of reverence and respect for Babu Jagjivan Ram’s unwavering commitment to social justice for marginalised populaces. It is an opportunity for all attendees to reflect on his invaluable contributions and renew our commitment at BJRNF, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment to carry forward his legacy.
