Hours after actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at his Mumbai residence during a suspected burglary attempt, sources reported that the accused was spotted near Bandra railway station later that morning. It is believed the suspect boarded the first local train of the day and fled the city. Police teams are now stationed in Vasai and Nalasopara, suspecting the intruder might have escaped to one of these areas.

Investigators suspect the attacker changed his clothes before fleeing the scene. Authorities are analyzing technical data and tracking mobile activity in the vicinity at the time of the incident. Informants are also assisting in locating the suspect.

Saif Ali Khan sustained serious injuries during a struggle with the intruder, who had broken into his home in the early hours of Thursday on the 11th floor of the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building. The confrontation began when Eliyama Philip, the nanny of Mr. Khan’s younger son, encountered the suspect around 2 a.m. The intruder demanded ₹1 crore and injured her when she resisted. Another staff member then alerted the actor.

Mr. Khan and a house help managed to overpower the assailant and lock him in a room, but the actor was seriously wounded and left bleeding. Amidst efforts to attend to his injuries, the intruder escaped. With no vehicles available, Mr. Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw, where he underwent surgery and is now in stable condition.

The incident has raised concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in the upscale Bandra neighborhood and sparked criticism from the Opposition over the city’s law-and-order situation.

Police have formed 20 teams to track down the accused, who is believed to have scaled an adjacent wall and used a fire shaft to access the apartment, bypassing CCTV surveillance in the building’s lobby. A case has been registered for robbery, trespassing, and grievous assault.
