A criminal wanted for the murder of a family of five in the Lisari Gate area of Meerut was killed in an encounter with the police, officials confirmed on Saturday. The accused, Naeem, had a bounty of ₹50,000 on his head for murdering his stepbrother, the stepbrother’s wife, and their three children, according to the police.

The encounter occurred at Chowki Summer Garden in Madina Colony Phase-2, where Naeem, also known as Jameel, opened fire on the police team with the intent to kill. In retaliation, the police shot Naeem, who was injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital, authorities stated.

Naeem was also a suspect in murder cases in Delhi and Maharashtra, police added. He had been living in the Lisari Gate area under a false identity and had allegedly killed his stepbrother’s family with the help of an accomplice. Investigators believe the murders were likely motivated by rivalry, as the victims were found with head injuries caused by a blunt object.

SSP Tada shared, “At Lisari Gate police station, we received information about five bodies discovered in a locked house. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the bodies of a couple and their three children. It appears they were struck on the head with a blunt object.”

The accomplice remains at large and carries a bounty of ₹50,000, police said.
