A juvenile court decided today that the 17-year-old who crashed a Porsche into two techies in Pune will face charges of drunk driving. The court declared that he would be prosecuted and penalized for driving under the influence (DUI) under section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

According to the act, if a breathalyzer test indicates that the driver of a motor vehicle has a blood alcohol concentration of more than 30 mg per 100 ml, it is illegal to drive after intoxication.

In the early hours of Sunday, two individuals, including a young woman, died after a Porsche collided with their motorcycle near Kalyani Nagar in Pune. The victims were identified as Anis Awadhiya and Ashwini Costa. The tragic incident occurred at about 3.15 am.

The teenager was granted bail within 15 hours of the crash, albeit with terms that many have deemed insufficient, which has infuriated the nation. A local court ordered him to work with traffic police for fifteen days, write a 300 word essay about accidents, and get counseling for his alcoholism.

Authorities said that the defendant celebrated his Class 12 results with friends by drinking before the collision.

The Pune Police chief told NDTV that the 17-year-old who crashed his father’s expensive Porsche was aware that his actions could result in death and that the relevant section of the Indian Penal Code would be applied to him.

The adolescent, who is the son of a well-known builder in Pune, was brought in early on Sunday morning for a medical examination; his blood was drawn and sent for a forensic analysis, according to Mr. Kumar.
