Following his arrival in Kolkata for medical care, a Bangladeshi MP has gone missing, according to officials.
Anwarul Azim Anar, a party member of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, arrived in the capital of West Bengal on May 12 and was sought out by Kolkata police on Wednesday.

The leader of the Bangladeshi Awami League has turned off his cell phone as well.

The police believe he was murdered and that his body was disposed of in the Newtown neighborhood of Kolkata. In Newtown, they also found a sliced corpse during search efforts. The body hasn’t been identified yet, though.

On May 12, the 56-year-old politician arrived in Kolkata and was lodging at his friend Gopal Biswas’ home. Two days later, he allegedly vanished, and Mr. Biswas then lodged a complaint with the Kolkata police.

Anwarul Azim Sheikh Hasina was also informed of the matter by Anar’s family, and diplomats in Delhi and Kolkata were notified by her office.
