A bank manager kidnapped at gunpoint on Saturday from his Faridabad home to Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur and then Mathura has been rescued thanks to prompt action by the Haryana police’s crime section. The inquiry has uncovered a horrifying strategy in which the kidnappers tied Satish up and drove him 800 kilometres, first to Bilaspur and then to Mathura. The strategy was purportedly devised by Satish’s previous tenant, Bhupendra. The chief accused and his wife, who reportedly assisted him, have been arrested, while police are searching for another suspect.
Satish, according to senior police officer Aman Yadav, is a bank manager in Delhi and lives in Faridabad’s Sector 62. His wife is a government employee. Bhupendra, who had lived as a tenant in Satish’s residence for four months, was out of job. He knew Satish’s family was wealthy and planned to abduct him and demand a ransom, according to the police officer.
According to authorities, Bhupendra, his wife, and Ravindra, his former petrol pump partner, devised the plan. Bhupendra and Ravindra searched the region surrounding Satish’s residence for two to three days before the kidnapping. Bhupendra, who had previously lived there, knew that the main door was never locked, even at night.
He entered the house late Saturday night. Satish was with his wife and a buddy. Bhupendra aimed a rifle at them. When Satish’s buddy Amit attempted to intercede, he assaulted him with a hammer, according to police. Bhupendra snatched Satish’s wife’s and Amit’s phones. He also grabbed Satish’s car keys and wallet. Satish was ordered at gunpoint to get into his car and travel to Rohini. Ravindra teamed up with Bhupendra in Rohini. Satish’s car was left there, and the accused took him to a cab. His wrists and ankles were tied, his mouth was muffled, and he was hidden behind the back seat divider. The kidnappers refuelled the cab with Satish’s credit card. The next destination was Himachal. According to authorities, Bhupendra’s wife sat in the front seat, implying that the automobile was carrying a family.
The kidnappers in Himachal sought ₹50 lakh in ransom from Satish’s family. By now, authorities had been notified, and six teams had been established to locate the kidnappers and rescue Satish. Officers from the criminal branch were present throughout the telephonic negotiations. Bhupendra settled for ₹5 lakh when the family refused to pay the whole amount of ₹50 lakh. He requested them to send the money to Satish’s bank account. The family stated that they did not have the funds in their bank accounts but could arrange cash. Bhupendra instructed them to transfer one lakh to the account and arrange for the remainder in cash.
Yesterday, Bhupendra went to Keli bypass to collect the money from Satish’s wife. After she handed over the money, he got into the cab he had taken. The criminal branch team was waiting, and he was arrested. When questioned, he stated that Satish had been relocated to Mathura, and Ravindra was with him. When Ravindra learned that Bhupendra had been captured, he departed the Mathura hiding, and police freed Satish. He’d been hit in the face with the pistol.
Bhupendra told authorities that he had been unemployed for months and needed money, which prompted him to do the crime. Police have seized the cash Satish’s wife had given Bhupendra, as well as a handgun, a countrymade gun, bullets, and the car used in the crime. The search for co-accused Ravindra, who is on the run, continues.
