A Janata Dal United leader was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Punpun, near Patna, on Wednesday night while returning from a wedding. Kumar had come with his pals to a reception party and was shot by unknown assailants while returning, according to a police official.
“Saurabh Kumar and his buddies attended a reception function. Masaurhi Kanhaiya Singh, a Sub-Divisional Police Officer, stated that while returning, he was shot by unknown miscreants and taken to the hospital, along with Munmun Kumar, who sustained injuries.
“They were taken to Kankarbagh Uma hospital; however, by then Saurabh Kumar had died; we are examining the matter,” he went on to say.
Political comments quickly followed, with the Bharatiya Janata Party stating that its government, which is in alliance with the JDU in the state, has an excellent track record and that action will be taken.
“The incident is saddening and condemnable,” said BJP leader Nitin Nabin, adding, “There will undoubtedly be consequences.”
The BJP-JDU has a strong track record. We’ll take action. It is not like the Mahagathbandhan. The administration will take measures. “We sympathise with the family,” he said.
“This was a very awful, deplorable, and sad situation. We offer our condolences to the departed family. “A police team has been deployed at his residence, and an investigation is underway,” stated JDU leader Abhishek Jha.
