Mephedrone, a prohibited substance, valued at ₹ 300 crore was found during a raid in Sangli, Maharashtra, authorities reported on Thursday.
During a raid at a company in the Kupwad MIDC area, a massive 140 kg of mephedrone, also known as “Meow Meow,” was discovered.
According to the official, three members of the drug syndicate have been taken into custody.
Drugs worth ₹ 3,700 crore have so far been recovered in the ongoing raids by Pune Police in different parts of the country.
In raids conducted throughout Pune and Delhi earlier on Wednesday, police reported finding an astounding 1,100 kilograms of mephedrone, valued at over ₹ 2,500 crore.
700 kg of mephedrone were seized along with the arrest of three drug smugglers in Pune at the start of the operation. Following their interrogation, 400 kg more of the synthetic stimulant were seized from godown-style buildings in the Hauz Khas neighborhood of Delhi.
Mephedrone was kept in storage in Pune, specifically in the Kurkumbh MIDC area, in another sizable shipment.
Sources close to the Pune Police say that the case will now be looked into from the perspective of terror funding.
