Mumbai experienced heavy rain early this morning as the Southwest Monsoon, which is already almost a week late, is predicted to arrive today, according to the India Meteorological Department.

The monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Mumbai by June 24 according to the weather department’s report on Thursday, but no official announcement has yet been made.

The monsoon is expected to come closer to Raigad, Thane, Mumbai, and Palghar because of the excellent weather. Mumbai should see monsoon by June 24, according to IMD Mumbai.

In Mumbai, the monsoon season typically starts in the second week of June.

The beginning of the monsoon season in India was updated by the India Meteorological Department on June 18.

After Cyclone Biparjoy, which was the longest storm in the Arabian Sea, the Southwest Monsoon is in the process of resuming its course. IMD has stated that more rain is anticipated when the southwest monsoon moves through the states because the delay in the monsoon left several Southern states with a deficit in precipitation.

According to the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has reached additional areas of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, the West Central and Northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand, additional portions of Bihar, the remaining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim as of today, June 19.

Meanwhile, a recent IMD bulletin stated that until June 21, heat wave/severe heatwave conditions are very likely to persist in some/isolated pockets over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, after which time they will continue to abate.
