AstraZeneca announced on Tuesday that it had begun withdrawing its Covid-19 vaccine globally due to a “surplus of available updated vaccines” since the epidemic. The business also announced that it would remove Vaxzevria’s marketing authorizations for the vaccine in Europe.

The business stated, “As multiple, variant COVID-19 vaccines have since been developed, there is a surplus of available updated vaccines,” as reported by Reuters. It further noted that this had resulted in a decrease in demand for Vaxzevria, which is no longer manufactured or supplied.

The company, AstraZeneca, has previously conceded in court documents that the vaccination causes side effects such as blood clots and low blood platelet counts, according to media reports.

According to the Telegraph, the company’s application to remove the vaccine was submitted on March 5 and took effect on May 7.

Following a halt in growth as Covid-19 medication sales fell, the company began diversifying into respiratory syncytial virus vaccines and obesity treatments through a series of transactions last year.
