Congress leader Priynaka Gandhi Vadra’s husband, Robert Vadra, who had previously indicated a desire to run for the Amethi parliamentary seat, has stated that the “entire country” wanted for him to enter active politics.
Robert Vadra further stated that Smriti Irani, the current MP from Amethi, had not kept her pledges.

“The voice is coming from across the country. They want me to participate in active politics because I have always been involved with the people of the country. People constantly want me to be present in their area. I have been campaigning in Amethi since 1999. When asked if he will run for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat, Mr Vadra claimed that Smriti Irani, the current MP, had not kept her commitments.

Robert Vadra stated that the Congress is comfortably ahead of the BJP following the completion of two rounds of Lok Sabha elections.

“People want changes. They want to get rid of the BJP, which is abusing central agencies. People in India support the Gandhi family because they witness Rahul and Priyanka’s hard work,” he asserted.

Robert Vadra revealed similar plans earlier this month, stating that the people of Amethi want him to serve their seat if he runs for Parliament.

“They want a member of the Gandhi family to return; they will ensure the person’s victory by a huge margin; they also expect that if I take my first step in politics and think of becoming an MP, then I should represent Amethi,” he told reporters on April 4.

On Wednesday, posters portraying Robert Vadra surfaced outside the party’s office in Amethi’s Gauriganj district. This sparked talk about a possible ticket for Vadra.

However, Robert Vadra stated that the Congress leadership will make the final choice on the Amethi and Rae Bareli seats.

According to sources, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi would likely run for Lok Sabha seats in Rae Bareli and Amethi, respectively. According to reports, a final decision will be made after April 26, and nominations will be accepted beginning next week.

Smriti Irani beat Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Amethi. The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Irani for the seat again.

According to the seat agreement between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress would fight for 17 seats and the Samajwadi Party for the remaining 63 seats in the electorally important state.

The Amethi and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seats will vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 20.
