The New Zealand ODI team now includes Mark Chapman ahead of their forthcoming five-match series against Pakistan, which gets underway on Thursday in Rawalpindi.

Chapman was selected as a result of his outstanding efforts in the T20I series, when he finished with 290 runs in five games to lead all scorers. His total of runs in a five-match T20I series is the highest of any player. After New Zealand was 26 for 3 in a chase of 194, Chapman stunned the hosts with an unbeaten 57-ball 104 to tie the series at 2-2.

Two of Chapman’s seven ODI appearances so far have been for Hong Kong. He participated in his first ODI for New Zealand in 2018 and his final ODI, in which he defeated Scotland with a match-winning 101*, occurred in July 2022.

“The way Mark’s played against one of the best T20 bowling attacks in the world has been nothing short of outstanding,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead said. “His match-winning knock in the fifth and deciding match was particularly special and we’re happy to have someone in such strong form added to our ODI squad.”

Dane Cleaver, who participated in the T20Is, will return home, while Tom Blundell and Henry Nicholls will join the team in Rawalpindi for the ODIs.

On April 26, the first ODI will be played at Rawalpindi, and the final three games will be played in Karachi. On May 7, the last game will be played.
