The voting for the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is presently underway in 88 seats spread across 12 states and one union territory. The thrilling second phase election campaign concluded at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, with key leaders of the BJP-led NDA and the opposition INDIA alliance working tirelessly to lure people to their side. The Election Commission of India announced that 1206 candidates from 12 states and union territories, as well as four from the Outer Manipur Parliamentary seat, will run in the second round of the Lok Sabha elections.
According to the poll commission, 2633 nominations were registered for 89 parliamentary seats in 13 states and union territories that will vote in phase 2 of the Lok Sabha elections.
The deadline for filing nominations for Phase 2 was April 4. After reviewing 2633 nominations, 1428 were determined to be legitimate. The deadline for withdrawal of nomination for all 12 states and UTs was April 8. The first phase of polling included 102 seats from 21 states and union territories. Ten states and territories were completely covered, while 11 were just partially covered. The EC declared that voting for the 18th Lok Sabha would begin on April 19th. According to the EC notification, the Lok Sabha election results would be published on June 4.
In the second round of general elections on Friday, 63.92 percent of voters turned out till 3 p.m. in three Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh, all of which had Naxalite presence, according to an official. “Polling commenced at 7 a.m. in the Lok Sabha seats of Kanker, Rajnandgaon, and Mahasamund amid strict security and went well. “Until 3 p.m., 63.92 percent of polling had been registered,” the official stated. Voting was completed in areas where polling hours extended till 3 p.m., he said. The tribal-dominated Kanker seat had a turnout of 67.50 percent, Mahasamund 63.30 percent, and Rajnandgaon 61.34 percent, he added.
Maharashtra had the lowest polling rate at 43.01%, while Tripura has the highest voter turnout with 68.92%.

According to figures given by the Election Commission of India, Madhya Pradesh had 46.50 percent voter turnout as of 3 p.m. in the second phase of election for six parliamentary seats.
Polling for the state’s six parliamentary seats—Tikamgarh (SC), Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, and Hoshangabad—began on Friday at 7 a.m.
Hoshangabad now leads the voter participation charts with 55.79 percent voting, followed by Tikamgarh 48.76 percent, Satna 47.68 percent, Khajuraho 43.89 percent, Damoh 45.69 percent, and Rewa 37.55 percent as of 3 p.m. in the state.
Aligarh had 44.08% voting, while Mathura had 39.45% until 3 p.m.
Ghaziabad registered 41.13% polling, while Gautam Buddh Nagar and Bulandshahr recorded 44.08% and 44.54%, respectively, until 3 p.m.
At 3 p.m., Amroha had a polling percentage of 51.44%, while Meerut and Baghpat had 47.52% and 42.92%, respectively.
Darjeeling polled 61.9% at 3 p.m., Raiganj 60.2%, and Balurghat 59.5%.
The average polling percentage up to 3 p.m. in Tripura East (ST) was 69.48 percent.
