A day after actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at his residence in Mumbai, a suspect has been detained following an extensive manhunt that leveraged technical data analysis and police informers deployed across the city.
Footage captured this morning shows the individual being escorted to the Bandra police station. Details about the suspect remain sparse, and it has not been confirmed whether he is the same individual who infiltrated Khan’s home and attacked him the previous day. No arrests have been made so far in connection with the stabbing and trespassing case.
Sources revealed that the suspect was spotted near Bandra railway station after the incident and had reportedly changed his clothes to avoid detection. The police formed 20 teams, utilizing informers and advanced tracking techniques to locate the accused. Officers also conducted searches in Vasai and Nalasopara in pursuit of the attacker, who left the actor injured after a confrontation.
According to authorities, the intruder entered Satguru Sharan, a 12-story luxury building where Khan occupies a four-floor residence, intending to commit burglary. Investigators suspect the attacker may have been known to a household staff member, enabling him to bypass CCTV coverage in the lobby. The police believe he scaled an adjacent compound wall and accessed upper floors via the fire shaft.
The burglary lasted approximately 30 minutes on the 11th floor, where the actor and his staff confronted the assailant. Khan’s younger son Jeh’s nanny sustained injuries while attempting to stop the intruder, and Khan himself suffered six wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery and is now in stable condition.
The intruder escaped using the fire shaft, eluding CCTV detection as he descended from the sixth floor. The incident has raised concerns about the effectiveness of security measures in the upscale Bandra neighborhood, drawing criticism from opposition parties regarding Mumbai’s law and order situation.
A case of robbery, trespassing, and causing grievous harm has been registered by Mumbai Police.
