As New Year’s Eve approaches with its promise of festivities, the Delhi Police have shared a witty social media post to caution against drunk driving and unruly behavior. They cheekily announced a “Cell Block Party” for offenders.
The post humorously outlines that the party’s “opening act” is a breathalyser, ready to spot drunk drivers. Attendees can expect “free transportation” to jail and “VIP lounge” accommodations in the form of jail cells. Speed cameras, the post notes, will handle the “cinematography” of the event. Citizens are encouraged to report troublemakers by dialing 112, with the “venue” set as the nearest police station. The caption cheekily added, “Who needs a countdown when you can count down the days until your release.”
In nearby Noida, police are also ramping up their vigilance. Restaurant and pub owners have been instructed not to exceed their venue capacities. Offenders caught driving under the influence will face car seizures and fines.
Meanwhile, in Mumbai, a robust police presence is planned to manage traffic and maintain order. Officers will establish multiple checkpoints to catch drunk drivers and will intensify patrolling in busy areas. Strict action will be taken against offenders, including those harassing women. Joint Commissioner of Police Satyanarayan Choudhary stated, “We are also monitoring the entry of illegal weapons into the city. Known offenders are under surveillance, with preventive measures being taken as needed.”
