Ramdular Gond, a BJP MLA from here, was found guilty on Tuesday in a local court of raping a young girl nine years prior. The punishment will be handed down on December 15.

Special Public Prosecutor (POCSO) Satyaprakash Tripathi stated that the MLA was found guilty in the 2014 rape case by Additional District Judge (First), MP/MLA Court, Ehsan Ullah Khan.

He continued by saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA had been placed in judicial custody and that the punishment would be announced on December 15.

Gond is the MLA for the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh’s Duddhi assembly constituency.

Giving specifics of the case, Mr. Tripathi stated that the incident happened on November 4, 2014, and that the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act’s sections 376 (rape), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 5L/6 were used to file a case against the MLA.

He said that at the time of the incident, the MLA’s wife was the gram pradhan.

A case against the MLA was opened by the Myorpur Police in response to a complaint from the victim’s brother.

Gond was not an MLA at that time and the trial of the case was going on in the POCSO Court.

The files were moved to the MP-MLA Court following his election as an MLA.
