Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring seamless transportation, enhanced residential facilities, and prompt assistance for pilgrims and tourists attending the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025.
During a visit to Prayagraj on Monday to review preparations, the Chief Minister inspected the under-construction Tent City located in the fair area. Highlighting the importance of timely arrangements for food and other amenities, especially in view of the cold weather, he expressed optimism about the enthusiasm among the public for staying in the Tent City. The facility in Arail, situated along the banks of the Sangam, is designed to host over 6,000 guests and is being attractively decorated.
At the VIP Circuit House, the Chief Minister was briefed about extensive arrangements for the Maha Kumbh. Protocol management includes 250 camps in the Mela Circuit House, of which 175 are reserved for judges. Additionally, over 2,200 camps are being prepared in the Tent City. To oversee the arrangements, a dedicated team led by three ADM-level officers is being deployed. Further enhancements include two cruises, six floating jetties, four VIP boats, five motorboats, 50 golf carts, and 50 tourist guides.
As part of his visit, Yogi Adityanath performed the Ganga Aarti at the newly constructed Dashashwamedh Ghat and sought blessings at the Dashashwamedh Mahadev temple for the successful organization of the Maha Kumbh 2025. He also inspected the Swaroop Rani Hospital and its Burn Unit, key medical facilities for the event. Stressing the importance of 24×7 medical services, he directed that adequate doctors, paramedics, and medicines be ensured in both permanent and temporary hospitals. Separate wards for men and women are being set up, and shift duties for medical personnel will be strictly implemented. Special care will be provided for the elderly, women, children, and disabled individuals.
At Prayagraj Railway Junction, the Chief Minister emphasized improved coordination between the state government and railway officials. Noting that the railway is a primary mode of transport for pilgrims, he suggested announcements be made in multiple regional languages to assist travelers. Estimates suggest that 10 crore people will travel to the Maha Kumbh by train. Additional arrangements include roadway buses to shuttle passengers from the railway station to the fairgrounds.
The railway has built shelters at Prayagraj Junction with a capacity for 22,000 people and made provisions for accommodating 1 lakh individuals citywide. Mobile ticketing services through the UTS app, fire safety measures, and the railway control room were also inspected by the Chief Minister. At the railway’s medical aid center, he reviewed facilities for preliminary passenger health checks during the event.
The Chief Minister’s visit also included Prayagraj Airport, where he assessed preparations for the Maha Kumbh. Airport officials assured that all work, including expansion of the old terminal, construction of a new terminal, and parking facilities, would be completed by the first week of January. With a significant influx of devotees expected via air travel, passenger amenities are being enhanced, and both day and night flight operations are being expedited to meet the December deadline. Airport Director Mukesh Upadhyay confirmed that preparations are progressing rapidly to meet the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
