KL Rahul has been omitted, but veteran bowler Yuzvendra Chahal will make a comeback as India announces their T20 World Cup 2024 roster. Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian cricket squad, with Hardik Pandya acting as vice captain. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as the opener, and Shivam Dube has been recognised for his outstanding performance in the IPL 2024. Arshdeep Singh has been recruited to the pace department, alongside Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are the wicketkeepers, while Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are all-rounders.
India’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign will begin on June 5 against Ireland in New York, followed by a highly anticipated match against Pakistan on June 9 at the same location.
Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh were also left out of the 15-man squad, although they were added to the reserve list. Fast bowlers Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan have also been included on the reserve list, and they may be called up if an injury or plan change occurs.
Rishabh Pant, who has been missing since his near-fatal vehicle accident in 2022, will also compete in his first international tournament. The wicket-keeper batter has done well in the IPL 2024 thus far, and his performance for the Delhi Capitals has won him a position in the T20 World Cup 2024 team.
