Vidya Malavade is a Bollywood actress best known for her role in Shah Rukh Khan’s smash film Chak De India. Over the years, the actress has appeared in a variety of roles and forms. In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, the actress discussed her career, including the rejections she has received along the way. Vidya Malavade stated that she had missed out on possibilities because she was “too young, too old, too pretty, not-so-pretty, too glamorous, not glamorous”. She also discussed a “weird” role she was offered: playing actor Sidharth Malhotra’s mother. Vidya, 51, is just 12 years older than the Shershaah star. Vidya recounted her experience: “I remember I got this call for… This is very strange… Casting professionals were looking for Sidharth Malhotra’s mother in certain… I’m not going to reveal where, but they called and I was simply… Really? In the same interview, Vidya Malavade said that Imtiaz Ali nearly rejected her because she was “too glamorous”. Regarding her role as Vaishali in Dr. Arora, Vidya stated, “When Imtiaz’s casting team was casting, he kept saying, ‘No she can’t do it.'” She’s too glamorous for this role. He wanted someone to resemble a housewife from the heart of the country. He was like, “How will she pull it off?” “I do not think she will.”
