Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that the victory against South Africa in the T20 World Cup final was his last match of the tournament. Rohit reiterated this in the post-game news conference.

This is my last game, therefore there’s no better way to say goodbye to this format than with this. I’ve relished every minute of it. When I initially started playing for India in this way, my goal was to win the World Cup, Rohit stated.

Following India’s first victory in an ICC competition in eleven years, Rohit expressed his emotions, saying, “I am completely lost and can’t say what kind of emotions I am going through.” Cannot put it into words. Give this some thought. I was so anxious and needed it so badly last night that I was unable to sleep. However, I controlled myself well underground.

The 37-year-old is the only other Indian captain to have won a World Cup in any format, along with MS Dhoni (2007 and 2011) and Kapil Dev (1983).

The Indian skipper has now led his team to 50 Twenty20 international matches, making history as a leader in this regard. The 50th victory was against South Africa in the World Cup final.
