Since the national capital’s water crisis has reached its second day, Delhi’s Water Minister Atishi has resumed her indefinite fast. Atishi claimed she would not eat anything until Haryana supplies more water for the city’s residents in a video message from the site of her “Jal Satyagrah” in Bhogal, south Delhi. As to her statement, the purpose is to obtain the appropriate portion of water from Haryana, which would satisfy the thirst of 28 lakh people. Though Haryana provides 613 MGD of the 1005 MGD of water that Delhi receives, the minister claims that during the previous few weeks, the state has only been releasing 513 MGD.

The trial court’s decision to give Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal bail in the excise policy case was temporarily stayed by the Delhi High Court on Friday. By June 25, the Delhi CM is still being held in judicial custody while the HC renders its decision. With Special Judge Niyay Bindu rejecting ED’s request to postpone the bail ruling for 48 hours, the trial court granted the AAP supremo bail on Wednesday, June 20. The ED then challenged Kejriwal’s regular bail, which was granted, in a Delhi High Court motion earlier today.

In a money laundering investigation linked to the Delhi excise policy case that the CBI is also looking into separately, the ED detained Kejriwal three months ago. Recalled on March 21, he had left Tihar prison on a provisional release earlier this month to participate in the Lok Sabha election campaign, and he turned himself in on June 2. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had previously claimed that Kejriwal was “directly involved in the formulation” of the now-canceled Delhi excise policy, which was created “considering the favours to be granted to the ‘South Group,'” which the ED claimed was granted unrestricted access, undue favours, stakes in already-established wholesale businesses, multiple retail zones, and payments totaling Rs 100 crore to AAP leaders in exchange.
