Bad news! Kamala Harris is trailing in Trump’s home state, Florida

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for president, spoke at a campaign rally in Savannah, Georgia, on August 29. As she prepares for a campaign bus tour through Florida this week, a recent swing state poll shows Donald Trump leading her by 5%.

Before the Harris campaign shifts focus to Florida, where Trump currently maintains an edge, a recent poll highlights that Harris trails behind him in the state. The Harris campaign’s “Reproductive Freedom” bus tour, set to begin this week, will make its first stop near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida. This tour follows the implementation of a six-week abortion ban in Florida back in May. According to a recent poll by Redfield & Wilton Strategies, conducted in partnership with The Telegraph, Trump holds 48% of the vote in Florida, compared to Harris’ 43%, giving him a 4.7-point lead. This margin aligns with the state polling average reported by FiveThirtyEight.

The poll, which surveyed 7,939 people across ten swing states between August 25 and August 28, shows mixed results for Harris. While she outperforms Trump in five of the ten swing states, including a tie in Nevada, Trump holds the advantage in the remaining five states.

Florida remains a critical battleground state, boasting the third-highest number of electoral college votes and a history of supporting the winning candidate by narrow margins. According to The Atlantic, no presidential candidate has won Florida by more than 5 percent this century. While Trump typically performs well in Florida polls, a USA Today/Suffolk University/WSVN-TV survey conducted between August 7 and August 11 showed his lead had narrowed to just 5 points, the smallest margin since July 10, as reported by Newsweek.

In Miami-Dade County, Florida, Trump and Harris are tied, each with 47% support. The Harris-Walz campaign is focused on engaging voters in their communities, emphasizing reproductive freedom and their broader campaign vision. The Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll also shows Trump with a two-point lead in both Georgia and North Carolina.
