Three children were rescued from a school bus that became trapped in the waterlogged Minto Bridge underpass in Delhi following this morning’s rain, officials reported. An autorickshaw was also caught in the same underpass.

Fortunately, no one was injured in either incident, as rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene, the officials confirmed. Efforts to pump out the water are currently underway, an official added.

Further details regarding both incidents are still awaited.

The Minto Bridge underpass is notorious for waterlogging during the monsoon season. In July 2020, a man tragically drowned when his mini-truck became stuck in the same underpass.

Tuesday morning’s rain lashed Delhi, causing widespread waterlogging and disrupting traffic. The Ridge observatory recorded 72.4 mm of rainfall, while the Safdarjung observatory, which provides representative data for the capital, recorded 28.7 mm, Lodhi Road recorded 25.6 mm, and Ayanagar 2.2 mm, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
