On Sunday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a walkathon at Delhi’s CR Park.

The “Walk for Kejriwal” walkathon is in favour of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail on charges related to the Delhi Excise Policy case.

“We need to defeat the BJP with votes (by voting for the AAP),” Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj stated.

Several AAP supporters held flags with Kejriwal’s face and the words ‘Jail ka Jawab Vote Se’ printed on them.

“Today, people came from all across Delhi to participate in Arvind Kejriwal’s walkathon. They are expressing their affection and providing blessings. The people of Delhi are contesting the election. They were considering breaking AAP by imprisoning Arvind Kejriwal. But the manner people went out for Sunita Kejriwal’s roadshow has alarmed the BJP,” AAP minister Atishi said.

AAP leader Somnath Bharti slammed the BJP, stating, “No matter how vast their corruption is, if somebody joins BJP, they earn greater positions in the party. “The BJP has become more like a ‘washing machine’.” He described the walkathon as an awareness effort against the BJP’s policies and injustices.

On March 21, the federal authorities detained Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with a liquor scandal. He was then transported to Tihar Jail on April 1.

According to the ED, the agency has recovered important evidence that directly indicates Kejriwal’s engagement in procedures and actions involving the proceeds of crime.

Kejriwal has sought the Supreme Court to challenge his detention by the ED and subsequent remand in the excise policy matter. The Supreme Court had already directed the Central Agency to file its answer to Kejriwal’s petition.
