Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s wife Kaplana Soren may succeed him, according to Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nishikant Dubey, since the former has instructed all allied MLAs to travel to Ranchi “with their luggage.”
Mr. Dubey questioned how a man who is fleeing will safeguard the state’s citizens in a post on X.
“A strong word of caution to those who are acting improperly under Chief Minister Hemant Soren ji’s orders: the CM is demonstrating that he is a wanted man by evading the investigating agency and taking abuse both domestically and internationally all day long. “How is that man going to defend the state’s citizens or the officers?” he asked.
“Hemant Soren ji has called his own, JMM, Congress and allied MLAs to reach Ranchi with their luggage and bags. According to the information, there is a proposal to make Kalpana Soren ji (Hemant Soren’s wife) the Chief Minister. The CM has said that fearing an ED interrogation, they will reach Ranchi by road and announce their arrival,” he added.
On Monday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s home in the nation’s capital was observed by Enforcement Directorate officials.
Chief Minister Soren was prepared to appear before the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 in relation to a money-laundering case connected to an alleged land scam, according to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya.
“Chief Minister has gone to Delhi for personal work, and he will return as well. He has been called on January 31. We are ready for January 31. You asked us to tell you the place and time, and we told you the place would be CM’s residence on Kanke Road and the time would be 1 pm. Who is creating all the confusion, then? The way the political situation is being presented is against democratic values,” Mr Bhattacharya said.
In a previous letter, the Enforcement Directorate had requested that the Chief Minister of Jharkhand provide a time for questioning on January 29 or 31, failing which the agency would question him in person regarding a money-laundering case related to a purported land scam.
According to sources, Jharkhand Chief Minister Soren received a new summons from the central agency requesting that he be available for questioning on January 29 or 31, failing which the agency would question him directly.
Chief Minister Soren has received ten summonses from the Central agency thus far.
