On Thursday, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that the Supreme Court would soon be connected to the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), a database of information on the number of cases still pending and the success rate of courts from the taluka level to the national level.
The portal only displays data up to the high court level at this time.

Data from the top court will be uploaded on the NJDG in real time, the CJI announced as he opened the day’s sessions in the apex court.

According to the CJI, submitting data to the NJDG will guarantee accountability and openness in the judicial sector.

The NJDG is an online platform developed as part of the eCourts Project that contains orders, judgements, and case information from 18,735 district and subordinate courts and high courts. District and taluka courts that are connected update data almost instantly.

It provides information about the judicial proceedings and rulings of all of the nation’s computerised district and subordinate courts. All high courts have joined the NJDG via web services, giving the general public with an interest in litigation convenient access.
