Nearly a month after the terrible three-train disaster in Balasore, Odisha, South Eastern Railway’s General Manager, Archana Joshi, was fired.
Anil Kumar Mishra was given permission by the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee to assume the position of General Manager of the South Eastern Railway.

“After the Balasore train tragedy, South Eastern Railway’s General Manager Archana Joshi was fired from her position. Anil Kumar Mishra has been given the go-ahead to take over as general manager of South Eastern Railway by the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee, according to a statement released by Indian Railway.

The Coromandel Express, headed for Chennai, the Shalimar Express, headed for Howrah, and a cargo train were all involved in the catastrophic June 2 triple train catastrophe, which resulted in over 1000 injuries and 291 fatalities.

In the meantime, 52 bodies from the triple train disaster in Balasore, Odisha, are still unidentified at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar.

“There are 81 bodies at AIIMS Bhubaneswar; we have sent their samples for DNA testing as a result of conflicting reports regarding a single body,” the statement reads. According to Sulochna Das, mayor of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, “out of that, the confirmation for 29 samples has been received, and their relatives/claimants have been informed.”
