The father of Mr. Bunty was charged by the Congress with making false accusations because of the BJP’s influence.

Mr. Bunty was later brought to his home by the Chandigarh police.

At first, Jasbir Singh Bunty was the Congress candidate running for mayor. However, following their alliance for the mayoral positions, the Congress and the AAP decided that the AAP would run for mayor and the Congress nominees would run for senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor.

Subsequently, Mr. Bunty declared in a video message that he was and would stay a member of the Congress.

Senior Congressman Pawan Kumar Bansal, meanwhile, charged that the BJP was abusing the local government to snatch opposition party leaders.

In preparation for the impending Chandigarh mayoral elections, the AAP and the Congress formed an alliance on Monday.

According to the agreement, the Congress will run for senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will run for mayor.
