Police Officer Injured In Encounter With Maoists In Jharkhand

During a confrontation with Maoists in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district on Monday, the police station in-charge was shot, according to an officer.
The incident occurred on Monday at around one in the morning in Dengura village, some 200 kilometers from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, according to the police.

According to Garhwa Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Pandey, Shankar Prasad Kushwaha, the in-charge of Ranka police station, was shot during the gunfight with Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a Maoist splinter group.

According to him, Kushwaha was sent to Ranchi for additional care following his initial Garhwa treatment.

Mr. Kushwaha sustained injuries from a bullet to his right arm.

According to the SP, a search was underway to find the Maoists.
