Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a Congress member, declared on Monday that Congress will unquestionably contest the West Bengal election, regardless of how the Trinamool Congress (TMC) thinks.

It is believed that Chowdhury’s response to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s remark that her party will help Congress where it is strong but “it should not fight against her in Bengal” was a cold shoulder was a response.

Responding to her statement Chowdhury said, “We will definitely fight elections; we will fight wherever it is needed.”

In addition, Chowdhury charged Mamata Banerjee with making such claims in the wake of his party’s victory in Karnataka. Mamata believes that she cannot survive until she joins forces with Congress, according to Chowdhury.

“With Congress victory, Mamata Banerjee now feels that she will not be able to work at any cost without doing compromise with Congress. Ahead of the Karnataka elections, have you ever heard Mamata Banerjee saying, vote for Congress to defeat BJP? She is the same Mamata Banerjee who visited Bihar and Uttar Pradesh to support those who are fighting against BJP, but why did not she visit Karnataka to support Congress?” questioned Chowdhury.

The Bengal CM was also criticized by Chowdhury for disregarding Rahul Gandhi. After the party’s triumph in the Karnataka assembly elections, he noted that Rahul Gandhi’s name had not been mentioned by her even once.

“Even during, the Bharat Jodo Yatra she didn’t say anything. That time also, when all the opposition leaders praised him, Mamata did not utter a word. When he got disqualified from the Parliament she didn’t say anything,” he alleged.

On Monday, Mamata Banerjee said that the parties which are strong in a region should fight together and if she is supporting Congress in states such as Karnataka, “it should not fight against me in Bengal”.

“I think whoever is strong in a particular region, should fight together. In Bengal, we (TMC) should fight…in Delhi, AAP should fight,” Mamata Banerjee said.

She claimed that Congress has significant support in roughly 200 Lok Sabha seats and that the party was eager to provide assistance in those areas. “In Bihar, Nitishji, Tejashwi, and some members of the Congress will make a decision; I am unable to decide on their formula.” The regional party that is most powerful must be given priority wherever it is, as you can see in Bihar, Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Wherever the 200 seats of Congress are strong, or whatever. Let them fight; we’ll back them; there’s nothing wrong with it. However, Congress must also lend assistance to the opposition parties. In Karnataka, I’m supporting you. However, you battle with me every day; this shouldn’t be the rule, she remarked.
