As a sign of protest against the government over the Manipur issue, all MPs affiliated with the opposition’s INDIA coalition would arrive at Parliament on Thursday wearing black clothing, according to sources.

An MP from the opposition coalition indicated that all members of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive coalition (INDIA) have been instructed to attend in black as a show of protest over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to address the Manipur issue in Parliament to this point.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today acknowledged a no-confidence motion brought by the Congress on behalf of the opposition alliance. Mr. Birla stated that the leaders of all parties would be consulted before choosing a date for the motion’s consideration.

Black clothing has frequently been used by the opposition to express their protest against the administration over a variety of concerns.

Before a debate on the subject can get started, the opposition has been calling for PM Modi to address the Manipur issue in Parliament. Both houses were in a deadlock because the opposition and members of the Treasury Bench would not budge. Monsoon season, which started on July 20, is expected to end on August 11.

More than 160 people have lost their lives and several hundreds have been injured since ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3.
