On the basis of his health, the Supreme Court today granted former minister of Delhi Satyendar Jain an ICU stay of six weeks. Jain was taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi after passing out from dizziness in a toilet at Tihar Jail.
Jain needed to be rushed to the hospital for treatment a second time in a week. According to jail officials, he suffered a spinal injury that was assessed on Monday at Safdarjung Hospital after he fell again in the toilet of the jail.
Since being detained by the Enforcement Directorate in May of last year in connection with a money laundering investigation, the AAP leader has been housed in Tihar prison.
The investigation team has charged Satyendar Jain with using phoney corporations to launder money and purchasing property using dubious finances. The former Delhi minister refuted the accusations and claimed they were made for political reasons.
Mr. Jain was a significant member of Mr. Kejriwal’s cabinet and was in charge of a number of departments, including urban development, housing, and health. While incarcerated, he submitted his resignation from his ministerial positions in January of this year.
